Q. Is there lodging close by for relatives?

A. The nearby Lions Hostel provide short term lodging for relatives of patients admitted to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital only for a minimal fee.

 

Q. Do I pay for lodging?

A. Yes. There is a $10.00 nightly fee that is paid to the manager of the Hostel upon arrival.

Check-in: 5:00pm to 10:00pm ONLY

Check-out: Between 7:00am to 9:00am

Food: is provided; however, guests may make arrangements for meals with the manager only after check-in at 5:00pm

 

Q. Where can I get something to eat?

A. Fast-food huts are available near.

 

Q. Are cell phones allowed in the hospital?

A. Yes, however, pictures taking of patients are discouraged due to patient confidentiality.

 

Q. Where can I smoke?

A. Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and compound is a smoke-free environment.

 

Q. Are children allowed on the wards?

A In the interest of public safety and infection control, children 13 and under are not allowed to visit ward areas. Permission to do so must be in agreement with the KHMH Administration, Ward Matron/Nurse-in-charge or at the doctor’s request.

 

 

Q. How do I find what ward my relative/friend is on?

A. You must check with our security officers upon entry. A form of picture ID must be presented upon entry after which a color coded visitor’s ID will be issued and MUST be visibly worn for the duration of the visit

 

Q. What are the visiting times?

A. Visiting times are from 11:00am through 1:00pm and 4:00pm through 8:00pm. Please respect visiting times wherever possible. Special arrangements outside of the visiting policy are solely the discretion of the Nurse-In-Charge or Unit Manager.

 

Q. How do I apply for a Death Certificate?

A. Medical Cause of Death Certificates are to be collected as follows:

In-Patient Death (Death within KHMH)-Cause of Death Certificate is given to family member on the ward where the patient was admitted. Relative of deceased MUST produce both 1 form of picture ID for the deceased and 1 for him/herself.

Out-Patient Death (Death outside the walls of KHMH) - Visit billing clerk located in the lobby of KHMH and produce 1 form of picture ID for both the deceased and1 for him/herself. Relatives are also required to pay a small fee of $15.00

KHMH accepted form of ID: Belize Issued Social Security Card, Passport or Birth Certificate

 

Q. What are the morgue fees?

A. ALL PAYMENT MUST BE MADE TO KHMH CASHIER

In-Patient Death (Death within KHMH) - $50 per day regardless of Post Mortem Requirement

Out-Patient Death (Death outside the walls of KHMH) – $75 charge per day is activated only on the day of Post Mortem and after.

$100 Handling Fee is charged only if request is made for KHMH to prepare the body for burial.

 

Q. Who do I send letters of thanks/compliments to?

A. In the first instance you may speak personally to the person in charge of the department or ward.You can write a letter and drop it off at the Public Relations Office located on the first floor adjacent to the KHMH pharmacy.You can also email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Q. How do I register a birth at KHMH?

A. A proof of birth along with a form of Id (Social Security Card, voter’s id,

passport or driver’s license) are both required to register a birth. This can be

done in the KHMH lobby.

 

Q. Do I pay at the KHMH pharmacy to fill my prescription?

A. All payments must be done at the cashier either at the front or in the X-ray

department.

Q. I have a billing question, who do I call?

Q. How do I schedule an appointment to see a specialist?

A. Individuals wishing to see a specialist at KHMH must get a referral from a doctor at any one of centers in the Belize District, Western District, Northern District or Southern District.

 

Q. Can I use my ATM or Credit Card to pay for services at KHMH?

A. Yes. All cashiers are equipped to facilitate individuals with ATM or Credit Card.
